ENERGY CONSUMPTION DATA
This report was compiled by Mr. Dan O'Brien of Flexible Solutions Ltd. at the request of the City of Vancouver Parks and Recreation Department. Data was obtained by that Department and forwarded to Mr. O'Brien. The comparison is between summer 1993 when HEAT$AVR was not being added to the pool and the summer 1994 when HEAT$AVR was in use. The energy consumption data which was supplied by BC Gas, includes PST and GST and the 1993 data has been changed so that it is directly comparable to 1994 in price per Gigajoule. All
use of the product HEAT$AVR was by parks
personel.
It is well known that in an outdoor pool variation in air tempurature and rainfall can change the amount of energy required to heat a pool. Therefore average tempurature and total rainfall data was obtained for the test and control periods from the Vancouver Airport weather office (see above table). 1994 was 6 mm less rainy and 0.38 degrees C warmer than 1993. These differences are so small that they can be ignored for the purpose of this report.
